2nd Annual Indiana Pediatric Sarcoma Research and Patient Advocacy Summit: Uniting Our Efforts to Promote Research for Clinical Trial Development

Indiana Pediatric Sarcoma Research and Patient Advocate Summit. Hero's Foundation, Tyler Trent, Elevate Childhood Cancer. Sarcoma Research. Pediatric Cancer.

The Indiana Pediatric Cancer Summit will bring together leaders across research, clinical care, industry, advocacy, and policy to accelerate progress for children with cancer. This year’s discussions will center on pediatric and AYA metastatic sarcoma as a shared case study to identify statewide strengths, bridge gaps, and inspire bold collaborative action.

Indiana Pediatric Sarcoma Research and Advocacy Summit. Presented by Elevate, Sponsored by the Hero's Foundation, & the Tyler Trent Foundation.
Morning – Big Vision
Participants: Indiana scientists, oncologists, and industry experts.
Mission: Using metastatic pediatric and AYA sarcoma as the common thread, we will map Indiana’s research and clinical assets, assess unmet needs, and identify barriers to delivering precision medicine from the first day of diagnosis, with a special focus on expanding clinical trials.
Key areas of focus will include:
  • Clinical perspectives – Lessons from NF1 trial development and the pathway to FDA approval; challenges in metastatic and second-line sarcoma therapy; promising RMS and precision genomics initiatives. The lived experience – Perspectives from families navigating pediatric clinical trials.
  • Emerging therapeutic approaches – Drug repurposing, novel combination strategies, and innovative drug development platforms.
  • Infrastructure and technology – Statewide capabilities in pathology, genomics, in vivo testing, and drug development, along with funding strategies to strengthen these resources.
  • What’s next – Proposing bold ideas to spark public/private partnership conversations.
Afternoon – Bold Voices
Participants: A wide range of voices from across Indiana’s pediatric cancer ecosystem, including clinicians, funders, researchers, advocates, industry leaders, policymakers, and families.
Guiding Questions:
  1. With Indiana’s new state fund for developing novel pediatric cancer therapies, how can it be used most effectively?
  2. How can Indiana become a national model for delivering precision medicine to children with cancer?
  3. How might we create a robust public/private partnership to make this vision a reality?
Late Afternoon—Networking Reception and Science Posters
Join us for an hour of networking and science posters presented by scientists from across the state.

    Pediatric Renal Tumor Roundtable

Pediatric Renal Tumor Thriving Survivorship Roundtable, presented by Elevate and KCA.

Elevate has partnered with the Kidneyu Cancer Association (KCA) to host The Pediatric Tumor Thriving Survivorship Roundtable at the upcoming International Kidney Symposium: North America (IKSNA) annual meeting.

Elevate has provided grants to support travel for those coming (scientists, oncologists, urologists, nephrologists, genetics counselors, etc) and patient advocates impacted by pediatric renal tumors.

The goal of the meeting is to develop a concensus around the most important next steps in diagnosis, treatment, survivorship (disease monitoring, overall health monitoring). This will help us build a roadmap for important areas of research that need to be funded and will unearth key education topics to support families in the midst of it.
